It founded the same-named non-profit about ten years ago with the goal of providing small loans to rural Kenyan women to help them finance their livelihoods. Through our own community-based finance and distribution initiative, Zawadisha eliminates the barriers that prevent rural women from receiving these clean energy and water goods. We distribute these things directly to women's homes. These women are also hired as Community Trainers, delivering training on leadership, financial literacy, and micro-enterprise. Thousands of loans and thousands of hours of training have been supplied by our all-Kenyan, all-woman staff throughout the years. By giving additional jobs, access to clean water and energy, and leadership positions for women, we are helping to improve an already thriving community.
