Sikkina is a Maltese word that literally translates to "knife." Visited the Maltese region a few years ago when traveling through Europe and stopped to see one of Italy's most famous knife specialists. He asked what were looking for, and when informed him about the trip, he asked if were willing to go a little further to locate what wanted.

Ears pricked up as we were perplexed. "Malta," he whispered to the world. He told us of a modest butcher shop in Mosta, one of the small towns on the island, where a guy worked in relative obscurity to the rest of the world, but his renown and popularity did not go unnoticed, as people flocked from all around to learn from his knife design and creation talents.

In search of this man, promptly altered course and boarded the next ship to Malta. Immediately recognized him as the person we were looking for when saw him. Stayed in the area for two weeks, and what he taught us during that time forever impacted our perspectives. "Sikkina" is the name we've given the company in his honor.
